The Oyo State Government, through the Agricultural Credit Corporation of Oyo State (ACCOS), has commenced the distribution of subsidised food commodities to workers across the state ahead of the 2026 Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
Chairman of ACCOS, Akeugberu Akeugbagold, disclosed this during the unveiling of the distribution exercise held at the corporation’s premises in Ibadan.
According to a statement issued by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Dotun Oyelade, the initiative is aimed at easing the economic burden on workers and helping them celebrate the festive season comfortably.
Speaking through the Coordinating Head of the corporation, Tunde Oladejo, Akeugbagold revealed that over ₦120 million was spent on the procurement of the food commodities.
“The gesture forms part of the welfare-driven programmes of the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde, aimed at improving the wellbeing of workers in the state,” he said.
The commodities distributed include bags of rice, Kings vegetable oil, and rams, all offered to interested workers at subsidised prices.
Akeugbagold further explained that beneficiaries would repay the cost through salary deductions spread over three months, beginning from July 2026 salaries.
According to him, the initiative reflects the state government’s commitment to workers’ welfare and improved access to food, especially during festive periods.
He also urged beneficiaries to continue supporting the policies and programmes of the present administration, assuring them that more people-oriented initiatives would be introduced to improve living conditions in the state.
