Oyo ADC Members Stage Protest, Demand Aregbesola’s Resignation Over Primary Materials Crisis

Members of the Oyo State chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Saturday, May 16th, 2026, staged a peaceful protest at the party’s state secretariat in Ibadan over the alleged disruption of materials meant for the party’s primary screening exercise.

The protest was led by all party members, leaders, and stakeholders in Oyo State ADC across the state.

Speaking for the protesters, Comr. Idris Adesola made their complaint known at the state office in Mokola, Ibadan.

The protesters accused the party’s Interim National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola, of allegedly interfering with the screening process and called for his resignation within 24 hours.

Addressing the protesters, the Oyo State ADC Chairman, Olayinka Olona, who was represented by the State Public Secretary, Barr. Adelowo Adebimpe, commended members for conducting a peaceful protest and urged them to remain calm.

Speaking on behalf of the chairman, Adelowo alleged that Aregbesola was working with some traditional rulers in Oyo State to destabilise the party and indirectly support the All Progressives Congress (APC) and President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, the alleged moves would not succeed in Oyo State, adding that the APC structure in the state was already facing internal challenges.

He further assured party members that legal steps were being taken to address the situation and preserve peace within the party.

The protest follows recent allegations that screening materials meant for ADC aspirants in the South-West were hijacked ahead of the party’s planned primary exercises.
