Fresh controversy has emerged within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) following allegations that screening materials meant for the party’s South-West screening exercise were hijacked by the party’s Interim National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola.
According to information obtained from the Oyo State Secretariat of the ADC, the incident allegedly disrupted preparations for the screening of party aspirants ahead of upcoming political activities in the region.
Sources within the party claimed that Aregbesola, who joined the ADC through coalition arrangements in 2025 and was previously considered an ally of President Bola Tinubu, has recently become increasingly influential within the party’s structure in the South-West.

It was further gathered that members of the screening committee assigned to Oyo State raised concerns after discovering that the screening materials, reportedly under the custody of the National Organising Secretary, had allegedly been removed from his office.
Party stakeholders described the development as a serious threat to the credibility of the screening process, warning that it could create confusion and tension among aspirants and party loyalists in the region.
The screening exercise for aspirants in the South-West is scheduled to hold on May 18, 2026.
As of the time of filing this report, efforts to get official reactions from some national officers of the party were still ongoing.
Meanwhile, party members and aspirants have appealed to the national leadership of the ADC to urgently intervene and ensure transparency, fairness, and peace in the conduct of the screening exercise.
