In a strong demonstration of commitment to human capital development and community advancement, Hon. Temitope Temidayo Olanrewaju, Special Adviser on Education and Service, Oluyole Local Government, has commenced a One-Week Vocational and Soft Skills Training Programme for residents of Oluyole Local Government.
The empowerment initiative, organized in collaboration with Fruitland College of Vocational, Sciences and Management, is designed to equip both students and non-students with practical, income-generating skills that will enhance self-reliance and economic growth within the community.
The training, which runs from March 23rd to March 27th, 2026, is currently ongoing at the college’s facility in Oluyole and is completely free of charge, making it accessible to a wide range of participants, especially youths and women.
Participants are receiving hands-on training in various vocational and soft skill areas, including:
- Paint Making
- Fashion Designing (Basics)
- Hair Making/Dressing
- Graphics Designing
Speaking on the initiative, Hon. Olanrewaju emphasized that empowering people with practical skills remains one of the most effective ways to reduce unemployment and promote sustainable development at the grassroots level. She noted that the programme is part of her continuous effort to invest in the people of Oluyole and create opportunities that will positively impact their livelihoods.
“This initiative is about building capacity, creating opportunities, and preparing our people for a more productive future. When our youths and women are empowered, our communities become stronger and more prosperous,” she stated.
The programme has recorded impressive participation, with many beneficiaries expressing appreciation for the opportunity to acquire valuable skills at no cost. Participants described the training as timely, impactful, and a step in the right direction towards economic independence.
Importantly, the training programme is still ongoing, and interested members of the public who are yet to participate can still join and benefit from the remaining sessions.
