The National Executive Committee (NEC) of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) has approved a comprehensive timetable for its nationwide congresses, beginning with polling unit and ward congresses on April 7.
The party’s National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, disclosed this while briefing journalists after the NEC meeting held in Abuja.
According to him, local government congresses will follow on April 9, while state congresses are scheduled for April 11, ahead of the party’s National Convention slated for April 14 in the Federal Capital Territory.
Abdullahi noted that the NEC also endorsed key reports presented to the National Working Committee (NWC), including those of the Policy and Manifesto Committee and the Constitutional Review Committee, which will be ratified at the convention.
He emphasised that the upcoming convention would not be elective but aimed at affirming earlier decisions of the NEC and NWC, adding that elections into party offices would instead be conducted during the various congresses.
The party spokesman assured members that the process would be transparent and inclusive, noting that nomination forms had already been distributed nationwide.
He added that representatives of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) attended the NEC meeting to provide oversight and credibility.
In his remarks, ADC National Chairman, David Mark, called for unity, discipline, and collective leadership among party members, urging them to prioritise national interest and deepen grassroots engagement.
Mark said the party must connect with Nigerians across regions and demographics to strengthen its position as a viable platform for national development.
