“Oyedokun M. O. is my name. I am a teacher at Community High School, Ahoro Esiele.”
Those painful words continue to echo in the hearts of many Nigerians after a disturbing kidnapping incident in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, involving staff and individuals connected to Community High School, Ahoro, Esiele.
What began as another ordinary day quickly turned into a nightmare that has left families devastated and the entire community in mourning.
According to reports, several victims were abducted during the unfortunate incident, and since then, disturbing videos have surfaced online showing some of the kidnapped victims pleading emotionally for help and calling on the government and security agencies to rescue them from their captors.
Among those affected was Oyedokun M. O., a teacher who introduced himself calmly in one of the heartbreaking moments that have now gone viral. Unknown to him, those words would become his final public statement.
He was not a criminal. He carried no weapon. He was simply a hardworking teacher dedicated to educating young minds and contributing positively to society. He was someone’s husband, father, provider, and source of hope.
Like many Nigerians striving daily to earn an honest living, he most likely left home that morning believing he would safely return to his family after work. Perhaps his children waved him goodbye with smiles. Perhaps his loved ones waited patiently for his return.
But he never made it back home alive.
Instead, another innocent life was lost in a tragic and painful circumstance that has sparked outrage and deep sorrow across the country.
The heartbreaking incident has once again raised serious concerns over insecurity and the growing fear among ordinary Nigerians. Many citizens continue to ask difficult questions: What exactly is the offense of hardworking Nigerians? Why should innocent people live in fear within their own communities?
More painful is the emotional trauma now facing the families of the victims, especially after the circulation of distressing videos online. The psychological impact on spouses, children, relatives, colleagues, and students may linger for years.
Meanwhile, security agencies have reportedly intensified efforts to rescue the remaining victims still in captivity. Authorities are said to be working closely with local security operatives and community stakeholders to ensure the safe return of those still being held by the kidnappers.
Residents and concerned Nigerians have continued to call on the government to strengthen security measures and ensure that those responsible for the attack are brought to justice.
As the nation mourns Oyedokun M. O. and prays for the safe rescue of the remaining victims, the tragedy stands as another painful reminder of the urgent need to tackle insecurity and protect innocent citizens across the country.
May his soul rest in peace.
