Tinubu, Akpabio, Governors Urge Unity, Sacrifice as Muslims Celebrate Eid-el-Kabir

President Bola Tinubu, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and several state governors have called on Nigerians to embrace unity, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to national development as Muslims across the country celebrate Eid-el-Kabir.

In separate Sallah messages, the leaders urged citizens to use the festive period to pray for peace, support ongoing reforms, and extend care to the less privileged, stressing that the values of sacrifice and compassion remain vital to overcoming the nation’s challenges.

In his Eid-el-Kabir message to Muslims in Nigeria and across the world, President Tinubu linked the essence of sacrifice associated with the festival to the economic reforms introduced by his administration.

According to him, the sacrifices Nigerians have endured over the past three years have started yielding positive economic results.

“Just as sacrifice brings reward, I am happy that the sacrifices and efforts we have made over the past three years have yielded a more stable economy, making our country a preferred investment destination that will drive job creation and economic growth,” Tinubu stated.

“The walk through the dark tunnel is over, and the light is here,” he added.

The President also acknowledged the persistence of insecurity in some parts of the country despite ongoing military operations and recent successes against terrorist groups.

He assured Nigerians that the government remained committed to defeating terrorism, banditry, and other criminal activities.

“I assure you: you are neither abandoned nor forgotten. We will ultimately defeat all the forces of evil,” Tinubu said.

The President further urged religious and community leaders to pray for peace, wisdom, and national progress while encouraging citizens to support the less privileged during the celebration.

Similarly, Akpabio called on Nigerians to pray for the country and support the administration’s efforts at rebuilding the economy and strengthening security.

In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Eseme Eyiboh, the Senate President said the values of devotion, sacrifice, and selflessness associated with Eid-el-Kabir are needed for national unity and development.

Deputy Senate President Barau Jibrin also urged Nigerians to continue supporting Tinubu’s administration, expressing confidence that the country would achieve greater stability and prosperity.

Among state governors who felicitated Muslims were Babajide Sanwo-Olu, Siminalayi Fubara, Sheriff Oborevwori, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, and Seyi Makinde.

Sanwo-Olu urged Muslims to uphold the values of sacrifice, peace, patience, and unity, describing the festival as a reminder that faith and perseverance yield rewards.

Fubara called on Nigerians to show kindness and compassion to the less privileged while praying for peace and prosperity across the country.

Oborevwori also urged Muslims to offer prayers for Nigeria’s unity, peace, and sustainable development.

Aiyedatiwa encouraged Muslim faithful to pray for continued peace and progress in Ondo State and Nigeria at large.

Makinde, in his Sallah message, urged Muslims in Oyo State to pray for the state, Nigeria, and leaders at all levels.

The governor also appealed to residents to remain security-conscious amid rising cases of banditry and kidnapping, while assuring that his administration would continue efforts to rescue abducted teachers and pupils in Oriire Local Government Area.
