The African Democratic Congress (ADC) on Sunday concluded its screening exercise for aspirants seeking to contest for various elective positions in Oyo State ahead of the forthcoming elections.
The screening exercise, which attracted party stakeholders and aspirants from different constituencies across the state, forms part of the party’s ongoing efforts to ensure credible, competent, and qualified candidates emerge to fly the ADC flag in the next electoral cycle.
Among the aspirants screened on Sunday were Adelakun Kamorudeen Abiola for Ona Ara Local Government House of Assembly seat; Mrs. Dosunmu Oluwaseun M. Joy for Ibadan North East Constituency II; Olufemi Sunday for Ido Local Government House of Assembly seat; Ogunlana Ayodeji Abiodun and Hon. Abayomi Abiodun for the Egbeda State Constituency House of Assembly seat; Adewale Adebayo Ismail for Ibadan South East Constituency II; Ngozi Gloria Okorie for Ibadan North Constituency I; and Adeboye Oluwagbemi Issac for Ibadan North West House of Assembly seat.
Also screened were Mr. Olusegun Thomas Olaleye, who was represented by Ogundiran Imoleayo Olusegun, for the Afijio Constituency House of Assembly seat; Kehinde Apampa, represented by Adefunmilola Adeyinka, for the Ibadan South-West House of Assembly seat; Hon. Toyin Oyewunmi Lawal – Oyo State House of Assembly Aspirant (Ibadan South-West Constituency 2) and Mr. Basit Busari, represented by Barr. Adelowo Bimpe, for a House of Assembly seat.
The exercise was conducted by the Oyo State Screening Committee comprising Prof. Sunday Fagbemi, Prof. Lanre Olutayo, and Dr. Stephen Ilesanmi.
With the screening exercise concluding on Sunday, a total of 28 aspirants were screened by the committee. The breakdown includes 2 Senate aspirants, 9 House of Representatives aspirants, and 17 State House of Assembly aspirants, while 3 aspirants were attended to virtually during the exercise.
Party members present at the exercise described the process as peaceful, transparent, and well-coordinated, expressing confidence in the leadership of the party to deliver a credible primary process.
The ADC leadership reaffirmed its commitment to internal democracy and quality representation, noting that the screening process remains a vital step toward presenting capable candidates to the electorate.
