The Executive Chairman of Oluyole Local Government, Engr. Akeem Olatunji, has officially resigned his membership of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), fueling fresh political conversations ahead of the 2027 general elections.
His resignation was conveyed in a letter dated May 5 and addressed to the PDP Ward 7 Chairman, Mr. Mojeed Raji Iyan.
In the letter, Olatunji formally announced his decision to part ways with the party, appreciating the PDP leadership at various levels for what he described as the rare privilege to serve the people through the platform of the party.
The Oluyole LG chairman specifically expressed gratitude to the Oyo State PDP Chairman and Vice Chairman, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro and Alhaji Wasiu Adeleke, for their continuous support, guidance, and encouragement throughout his political journey.
He also paid glowing tribute to Otunba Seye Famojuro, whom he described as his political benefactor and a committed supporter of his political growth and career advancement.
Although Olatunji is yet to officially disclose his next political destination, strong speculations within political circles suggest that he may be preparing to join the Allied People’s Movement (APM), a development believed to be linked to ongoing political realignments and internal disagreements rocking the PDP at the national level.

Sources close to the chairman hinted that consultations are still ongoing among critical stakeholders and political leaders across Oluyole Local Government before a formal declaration is made.
Observers say the move could significantly reshape the political landscape in Oluyole and parts of Oyo State as politicians begin strategic positioning ahead of the 2027 elections.
