JAMB Retains 150 Cut-Off Mark for University Admissions for 2026/2027 Session

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially approved 150 as the minimum cut-off mark for admission into Nigerian universities for the 2026/2027 academic session.

The decision was announced on Monday during the Board’s annual policy meeting held in Abuja, where key stakeholders in the education sector gathered to deliberate on admission guidelines for tertiary institutions across the country.

According to JAMB, the approved benchmark followed a voting process conducted among vice-chancellors present at the meeting.

In addition, heads of tertiary institutions unanimously agreed on the following Minimum Admissible Scores for the new academic session:

  • Universities — 150
  • Colleges of Nursing Sciences — 150
  • Polytechnics — 100

The policy meeting is an annual exercise where admission standards and processes are reviewed to ensure fairness and uniformity in Nigeria’s tertiary education system.

The latest decision means candidates seeking admission into universities and colleges of nursing must score at least 150 in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), while candidates applying to polytechnics are expected to score a minimum of 100.
