The administration of Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, has strongly defended its record on public spending, maintaining that state resources are being managed responsibly and in full compliance with due process.
The clarification was made by the Governor’s spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, during an interview on Westernspring Television in Osogbo, which was later shared via the state government’s official X (formerly Twitter) account on Tuesolkn day.
Rasheed dismissed allegations from opposition figures accusing the administration of financial mismanagement, describing such claims as false, misleading, and politically motivated.
According to the spokesperson, the state government strictly adheres to procurement laws, ensuring that all projects are executed with transparency and a firm commitment to “value for money.”
He emphasized that infrastructure projects across Osun State are not only visible but also verifiable, with direct impact on the lives of residents.
Addressing a specific allegation that the governor spent ₦92 billion on feeding, Rasheed categorically denied the claim.
“It is a lie from the pit of hell,” he stated, adding that such accusations stem from either “mischief or financial illiteracy.”
He further explained that government expenditures are spread across various ministries, departments, and agencies, making it inaccurate to attribute large sums to a single expense category.
Rasheed also accused opposition groups of attempting to frustrate governance by interfering with local government funds. He alleged that such actions are driven by political interests rather than public good.
Despite the challenges, the spokesperson reiterated that the Adeleke-led administration remains committed to delivering measurable and impactful results for the people of Osun State.
