The African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Oyo State on Saturday, April 11, 2026, held a well-attended and vibrant congress at its State Secretariat, Veterinary, Oke Itunu, Mokola, Ibadan.
The congress, which drew party leaders, stakeholders, newly inaugurated executives from all 33 local governments, aspirants, and members, marked a significant milestone in the party’s preparation for the 2027 general elections.
Present at the event was the State Chairman, Alhaji Olayinka Olona, who was reaffirmed as the sole leader of the party in Oyo State. The highlight of the congress was the official inauguration of executives at both the state and local government levels, further strengthening the party’s structure across the state.
Speaking during the event, Alhaji Olona emphasized the unity of the party, stating clearly that the ADC remains one indivisible entity with no faction or division.
Also speaking, the State Publicity Secretary, Barrister Bimpe Adelowo, reaffirmed that there is only one recognized ADC leadership at both the state and national levels, including Abuja. He stressed that any contrary claims should be disregarded, urging members to remain focused and united.
Similarly, the Chairman of ADC in Ibadan South-West Local Government, Honourable Idris Adeshola Lawal, reiterated that there is no faction within the party anywhere, encouraging members to stay committed to the party’s vision and leadership.
In a related remark, the ADC Chairman in Oluyole Local Government, Comr Adekunle Samson, maintained that any individual not present at the official congress venue in Oke Itunu cannot be regarded as a bona fide member of the party, reaffirming that Alhaji Olayinka Olona remains the only recognized chairman of ADC in Oyo State.
The congress also witnessed the formal approval of the Harmonized State Executive Committee, led by:

The atmosphere at the congress was lively, with music and celebration as party supporters expressed their confidence in the leadership and direction of the party.

The State Chairman, in his closing remarks, expressed gratitude to all party members, executives, aspirants, and stakeholders for their unwavering support and commitment to the party. He urged continued unity, discipline, and dedication as the party positions itself for victory in the 2027 elections.
The congress concluded on a high note, reinforcing the unity, strength, and readiness of the ADC in Oyo State to play a major role in the political landscape of the state.
