ADC COMMISSIONS SOUTHWEST ZONAL OFFICE IN IBADAN, REAFFIRMS UNITY AND LEADERSHIP STRUCTURE

History was made on Saturday, April 25, 2026, as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) officially commissioned its Southwest Zonal Office in Ibadan, Oyo State, marking a significant step toward strengthening the party’s structure and enhancing its operational capacity across the region.

The commissioning ceremony attracted top national, zonal, and state leaders of the party, underscoring the importance of the event in consolidating unity and preparing the party for the 2027 general elections.

Among the notable dignitaries present were Dr. Bamidele Ganiyu Ajadi, Deputy National Chairman (Political); Engr. Jide Adeniji, National Leader and Southwest Zonal Leader; Hon. Rahman Owokoniran, National Vice Chairman (Southwest); Alhaji Kabir Adesiyan, National Vice Secretary (Southwest Zone); and Dr. Rotimi George, Deputy National Financial Secretary.

Also in attendance were Chief Mrs. Ganiyu Sidirika Ojo, Assistant National Woman Leader and Southwest Zonal Woman Leader; Alhaji Yinka Olona, Oyo State Chairman; Otunba Dr. Olufemi Soluade, Ogun State Chairman; Rasak Eyiowuawi, former Southwest Chairman; Barr. Bimpe Adelowo, Oyo State Publicity Secretary; Alhaji Tiamiyu Abidikugu, Deputy State Chairman, Oyo State; and Hon. Agboola Alphonso, State Vice Chairman (Oyo South), alongside several other party leaders and stakeholders.

The event featured a well-structured programme, including arrival of guests, opening formalities, prayers, the national anthem, introduction of dignitaries, goodwill messages, and key addresses from party leaders.

In their remarks, speakers emphasized the need for unity, discipline, and collective commitment in building a formidable political platform. They noted that the commissioning of the Southwest Zonal Office is a strategic move to deepen grassroots mobilization and strengthen coordination within the region.

While speaking, Dr. Bamidele Ganiyu Ajadi stressed that the ADC is not factionalized anywhere in the Southwest, reaffirming that the party remains one united entity under a recognized leadership structure. He noted that any individual or group claiming to represent the party outside the established and legitimate structure in their respective states should not be taken as authentic representatives of the ADC.

Citing Oyo State as an example, he referenced activities of a group led by BISI ILAKA, describing such actions as inconsistent with the party’s recognized structure. He emphasized that any parallel gatherings or processes conducted outside the legitimate framework of the party would not be recognized. He therefore urged members across the Southwest to remain vigilant, loyal, and focused on strengthening the party.

Dr. Ajadi further encouraged members to remain steadfast and intensify grassroots mobilization efforts in line with the party’s broader mission to provide credible leadership and direction for Nigeria.

Importantly, party leaders at the event reaffirmed that the ADC remains one united and indivisible party. It was clearly stated that DAVID MARK remains the authentic National Chairman of the party. Members were urged to disregard any contrary claims or misinformation, as such do not reflect the true position of the party.

The commissioning of the Southwest Zonal Office was successfully carried out, symbolizing a new phase of growth, stability, and expansion for the ADC in the Southwest region.

The event concluded on a positive note, with members expressing renewed confidence in the leadership and direction of the party as it continues to position itself as a credible alternative in Nigeria’s political landscape ahead of the 2027 general elections.
