Popular Fuji music icon, Wasiu Alabi Odetola, widely known as Pasuma, has issued a strong warning to individuals and companies allegedly using his music, image, and other intellectual property without authorization, threatening legal action against offenders.
In a legal notice dated June 5, 2026, the veteran entertainer, through his legal representatives, expressed concern over what he described as the continuous and unauthorized exploitation of his creative works and personality rights by several entities.
According to the notice, some social media platforms, production outfits, content creators, and music distribution companies have allegedly been using his sound recordings, musical compositions, visual recordings, photographs, and likeness for commercial and promotional purposes without obtaining the necessary permission.
Pasuma's legal team stated that such actions constitute a violation of his intellectual property rights and could expose the affected individuals and organizations to legal consequences.
The Fuji star emphasized that his music catalog, image rights, performances, and other creative materials remain protected under applicable copyright and intellectual property laws.
The notice further warned that any individual, company, media platform, or organization found to be infringing on these rights should immediately cease and desist from all unauthorized usage.
Pasuma also reserved the right to pursue legal remedies, including claims for damages and injunctions, against any party found culpable of violating his intellectual property rights.
The development highlights the growing concern among Nigerian entertainers over the protection of intellectual property in the digital age, as artists continue to seek stronger enforcement against unauthorized use of their works across social media and digital distribution platforms.
Industry observers believe the move may serve as a warning to content creators and businesses to obtain proper licenses and approvals before using copyrighted materials belonging to artists and other rights holders.
The veteran musician reaffirmed his commitment to protecting his creative legacy and ensuring that his intellectual property is respected and utilized only through lawful and authorized channels.
