NAPPS Oyo Distances Itself from Planned Anti-Insecurity Protest, Warns Members Against Participation

The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools (NAPPS), Oyo State Chapter, has officially distanced itself from the proposed protest against insecurity scheduled to take place in Ibadan on Monday, June 1, 2026.

In a statement signed by the State President, Asiwaju Fajobi Alani Olukunle, the association clarified that it is neither involved in the planning nor execution of the protest and has directed all its members across the state to refrain from participating in the rally.

According to the association, while it remains deeply concerned about the growing security challenges affecting schools, students, teachers, and communities, it believes such sensitive issues should be addressed through constructive engagement, dialogue, and collaboration with relevant authorities rather than public demonstrations.

NAPPS further stated that the proposed protest appears to be politically motivated rather than driven by genuine humanitarian concerns. The association also noted that key stakeholders in the education sector, including the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), TESCOM, and other relevant educational bodies, are not officially involved in the planned protest.

Reaffirming its commitment to the safety and welfare of pupils, students, staff, and school proprietors, NAPPS Oyo State emphasized that it will continue to advocate for improved security through lawful and responsible channels.

The association urged all members to remain peaceful, law-abiding, and focused on their educational responsibilities.
