Oyo Private Schools Shut Down for Special Prayer Over Rising Insecurity


In response to the recent kidnapping incidents reported in Yawota and Esiele communities in Ogbomosho, the Coalition of Private Schools in Oyo State has announced the closure of all private schools across the state on Friday, June 5, 2026.

The decision was reached after careful consideration of the safety and security of pupils, students, teachers, and the entire school community amid growing concerns over insecurity.

According to a resolution jointly signed by member associations of the coalition, all private schools are expected to suspend academic activities on the said date and dedicate the day to a special prayer session for peace, protection, and divine intervention in Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.

Key Resolutions

✅ All private schools across Oyo State shall remain closed on Friday, June 5, 2026.

✅ Schools are to organize special prayer sessions seeking God's intervention for the safety of schools, communities, and the nation.

✅ Parents, guardians, school proprietors, teachers, and students are encouraged to participate fully in the prayer programmes organized by their respective schools.

✅ The coalition strongly condemns all forms of criminal activities and urges security agencies to intensify efforts toward protecting lives and property across the state.

The coalition expressed appreciation to all stakeholders for their understanding, cooperation, and commitment to fostering a safe and peaceful learning environment.
