“Gunmen Strike in Ibadan: 60-Year-Old Trader Abducted as Police Launch Rescue Operation”

Tension has gripped residents of Monatan in Ibadan following the abduction of a 60-year-old building materials trader by suspected armed men.

According to preliminary reports, the victim was forcefully taken by four masked gunmen who intercepted him in the area before whisking him away in an unregistered ash-coloured Toyota Corolla. The brazen attack has heightened concerns about safety within the community.

Confirming the incident, the Police Public Relations Officer in Oyo State, Olayinka Ayanlade, disclosed that security operatives acted swiftly after receiving the distress report.

“Upon receipt of the report, police operatives swiftly visited the scene and activated necessary operational measures aimed at rescuing the victim and apprehending the perpetrators,” he stated.

Authorities say a full-scale rescue operation is currently underway, with security personnel deploying all available resources to ensure the safe return of the abducted trader and the arrest of those behind the crime.

The police have also reassured residents of their unwavering commitment to tackling criminal activities and maintaining law and order across Oyo State.
