Afrobeats star says music goes beyond entertainment, shaping minds, healing pain, and driving societal progress.
Nigerian singer, Bella Shmurda, has shared a deeper perspective on the role of music in society, describing it as a powerful force for change and emotional healing.
Speaking in the For Bunmi documentary, the ‘Cash App’ crooner emphasized that music is far more than just a form of entertainment — it is a tool for societal advancement and personal well-being.
According to him, music carries a unique influence that can shape mindsets and uplift communities.
“Music is warfare. Music is a tool for the society. Music is a tool of progress. Music is an instrument of goodwill. Music is a tool to keep people sane, to put them in the right state of mind, to make them dance away their sorrow, and to make them feel alive and self-conscious,” he said.
Bella Shmurda explained that music has the ability to heal emotional wounds, inspire hope, and help individuals navigate life’s challenges.
The singer also revealed that becoming a father has significantly transformed his approach to making music. He noted that he is now more intentional and mindful of the messages in his songs.
According to him, fatherhood has instilled a sense of responsibility, pushing him to create music his children can proudly listen to in the future.
This shift, he said, reflects his desire to leave behind a meaningful legacy through his art.
Bella Shmurda’s reflection highlights the evolving role of artists in society — not just as entertainers, but as voices of influence, responsibility, and change.
