Oyo PDP Aspirants Engage Makinde’s Advisory Council Ahead of Primaries

As political party primaries draw closer in Oyo State, the Advisory Council of Governor Seyi Makinde has begun interactions with governorship aspirants on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

The initiative, led by the council’s Chairman, Bolaji Ayorinde, is designed to provide a platform for aspirants to present their plans and programmes for the state, while promoting a level playing field ahead of the primaries.

Ayorinde clarified that the exercise is not a screening process but an engagement aimed at understanding the visions, credentials, experience, and acceptability of the aspirants as the party prepares to field a strong candidate for the governorship election.

He disclosed that the exercise, which commenced on Saturday, had already featured interactions with nine aspirants, with more expected to appear before the council.

Among those who have participated are Adedeji Olajide, Nureni Adeniran, Bimbo Adekanmbi, Debo Akande, and Debo Ogundoyin, among others.

Ayorinde emphasised that the council does not have the authority to disqualify any aspirant, noting that its role is purely advisory to the governor, who is committed to ensuring a transparent and fair process.

He added that broader consultations with stakeholders, including party leaders and traditional rulers, may follow to build consensus and prevent internal disputes ahead of the election.
